Athletics and me

Being in athletics has been in my blood since I was in junior high where I began participating in fast-pitch softball, basketball and track & field.   I continued playing these sports through high school and also picked up long distance running by joining the cross country team. In addition, I took part in intramural activities, such as volleyball.  In college, I continued being active in basketball, track & field, and cross country.

My competitive drive continued after college.  I became involved in slow-pitch softball, and have competed in ten national tournaments in seven different states.

Outrigger Canoeing

Outrigger Canoeing was not added to my list of activities until the fall of 1998. It only took paddling once in the canoe for me to get hooked. I've been competitive in six-person canoe racing since my first competition in December of 1998. In 2001 I began my quest to enhance my paddling skills by competing in one-person canoe racing. My drive for success has taken me to the 2002 World Sprint Championships in Bora Bora.  I now have my sights set on the World Sprint Championships on August 15, 2004 in Hilo, Hawaii.
